World Cup winning Argentinian forward Ángel Di María who now plays for Portuguese club Benfica will visit the subcontinent, spending a 1.5 days each in Kolkata and Dhaka, This was confirmed by Satadru Dutta, a Kolkata based sports promoter, over phone.
Dutta had previous brought Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and retired Brazilian forward Ronaldinho in 2023. Those 2 visits were widely criticised from media and the public due to the private nature of the tours and the mismanagement of those events.
However, Dutta has reassured that this won’t be an issue for the upcoming visit. He will take personal responsibility to make sure the footballer gets enough public interaction, and he is in talks right now to decide the itinerary for the Dhaka visit.
