A bride in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, had a surprising experience on her wedding day when her groom got cold feet and refused to get married. Instead of accepting this rejection, the determined bride, dressed in her wedding attire, went on a pursuit spanning over 20 kilometers to find him and marry him.
When she received the news that her groom, with whom she had been in a relationship for two-and-a-half years, was not going to show up at the wedding venue, she took matters into her own hands and decided to search for him. Despite his claim over a phone call that he had gone to bring his mother to the venue, she didn’t believe him.
Eventually, they found the groom on a bus near a police station outside Bareilly city limits. The following two hours were filled with dramatic exchanges. Eventually, the bride, her family, and the groom’s family took him to a temple.
The groom’s family eventually agreed to the marriage, and the couple was wedded at a temple outside Bareilly city. Videos of the ceremony depict the groom, now dressed in regular clothes, going through the marriage rituals while their families watched.
The bride received praise for her bravery in “saving her marriage,” while the man was criticized by both families and onlookers for “running away from the responsibility of marriage” after making a promise to marry the girl.
