Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said that he has decided to leave at the end of the season after they lost 5-3 at home to Villarreal in LaLiga. This was their 3rd defeat in their last 5 games in all competitions. “I’d like to announce that as of June 30 I will not continue as Barca coach,” he said in a press conference. Barcelona are 3rd in the league on 44 points, 10 points behind the top team Real Madrid and eight points behind second-placed Girona.
They lost to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final earlier in January and were knocked out in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals by Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
