2 Bangladeshi scientists bring AI tech that can predict diabetes

  • November 12, 2023

Genofax, a healthcare technology startup, has unveiled AI-enabled Health-Metric Determination (AIeh-MD), a novel technological solution that potentially detects early indications of conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, and diabetes by monitoring the gut microbiome of an individual. Two Bangladeshi scientists named Zahangir Alam and Dr. Abed Chaudhury founded the company.

The gut is home to trillions of microbes, which is called the gut microbiome. Disruption of the microbiome, known as dysbiosis, has been associated with a variety of health problems including obesity, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), among others. Genofax employs this notion to forecast metabolic patterns and deliver tailored recommendations through the examination of fecal samples utilizing DNA sequencing technology and big data analytics.

Zahangir Alam is a CSE graduate from RUET who moved to Australia in 2011. That year he founded a global enterprise that creates innovative technology solutions called Teleaus. The other founder of Genofax is renowned geneticist, author and scientist Dr Abed Chaudhury, who has been an expert on biology and genetics for over 40 years.
