A Jubo League leader in Feni ended up in jail yesterday in a case over torching a truck on Thursday during a 3-day blockade enforced by the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islaami.
The 35-year-old arrestee, Nurul Uddin Tipu, is a member of both the Feni Jubo League and the Dhalia Union Jubo League, according to Feni Sadar Jubo League President Nurul Abbas, who spoke to The Daily Star. On Thursday, according to the OC of the Feni Sadar Model Police Station, Mohammad Shahidul Islam Chowdhury, some criminals set fire to a vehicle from a Chattogram sugar factory on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Feni. Ujjal Baidya, the truck owner who is from the Dewan Bazar area in Chattogram’s Bakalia, filed a case against 15 to 20 unidentifiable people under the Special Powers Act with Feni Model Police Station on Thursday night. He claimed that the damage caused by the fire cost Tk 1.5 lakh. The primary investigation unearthed Tipu being involved in the arson incident, said the OC.
