Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon, CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury and national team captain Shakib Al Hasan were served a legal notice today, asking them to resign from their positions and taking responsibility for the ICC World Cup 2023 debacle. Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Khundkar Hasan Shahriyar sent the legal notice through registered post.
Within thirty days, he demanded that the BCB’s highest-ranking officials dismiss the entire national team coaching staff and selection committee, as well as establish a committee to investigate the team’s debacle at the World Cup. The attorney stated in the legal notice that if they fail to comply, suitable legal proceedings will be initiated. The Bangladeshi squad had earlier returned from India in the early hours of Saturday after a catastrophic performance in the World Cup. The Tigers narrowly qualified for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy by finishing eighth in the competition with only two wins out of nine matches.
